Steven Colbert eagerly accepts assistance from members of MOI, Phillip and Rich Battaglia. Mr. Colbert  holds a picture of Jud Battaglia, who assisted telepathically from Pennsylvania.  On October 21st, MOI jumped on board the Colbert Presidential Steamroller, destined for destiny!

The Moment Of Inertia, also known as MOI, has been performing live improv shows for over 2 1/2 years now. Formally known as IGGE (for the Improv Guild of Glen Echo),  MOI is High School students with a large vision of what can be created through improvised characters.

The group is recast personnel since the graduation of three seniors from BCC, and members are now:

Spencer Johnston, Joselune Baranshamaje, Amanda Stoltz, Alex Batselos, Ezra Lewis, Tim Simon, and Phillip Battaglia. All are BCC except for Alex, who attends Walter Johnson.

MOI’s next show will be this coming ‘Bustin’ Loose’, Friday night, May 30th, 7 30 PM, with the BCC Jazz Combo, at The Church In Bethesda, 5033 Wilson Lane, across from Bethesda Elementary. Tickets $10. Any questions email Rich Battaglia at rich_battalgia@yahoo.com.

MOIs last show was BCC Bustin’ Loose Comedy Jazz Fest on June 1st with the BCC Jazz Ensemble at the Church in Bethesda. Judging by audience reaction, it was a rousing success. The Jazz ensemble, led by Dan Papson, was tight, in tune, and working off each other and the activities on the stage. The highlight of the show was a Beat Poetry piece, where musicians and on stage poets played off one another, based on ‘something that bugs you’ (the issue that night was excessive homework).

There will be a Sunday night class forming again this Fall, running for 10 weeks.

But MOI knows COOL.  Mae Gowin and Catalina Walker explain.
